PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

We encourage the physical development of the children through the provision of opportunities that enables them to improve their skills of co-ordination, control, manipulation and movement. We support them in using all of their senses to learn about the world around them and to make connections between new information and what they already know.

PERSONAL, SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Our children are provided with experiences and support which will help them to develop positive sense of themselves and of others; respect for others; social skills; and a positive disposition to learn. We ensure support for the children’s emotional well-being to help them to know themselves and what they can do.

LITERACY

We provide the children with opportunity and encouragement to use their literacy skills in a range of situations and for a range of purposes.

COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE

We encourage the children’s communication skills and language skills daily. Sustained shared thinking is encouraged and the children verbally express themselves and share thoughts in a safe and caring environment

MATHEMATICS.

We support the children in learning and using numbers and counting in play. They are provided with opportunities to know that numbers can be combined to be ‘added together’ and can be separated by ‘taking away’ and that two or more can be compared. The children have the opportunity to learn appropriate mathematical vocabularies and learn about colours, shapes and quantities.

UNDERSTANDING THE WORLD

The children are supported in developing the knowledge, skills and understanding that help them to make sense of the world. Their learning are supported through offering opportunities that enables them to use a range of tools safely; encounter creatures, people, plants and objects in their natural environments

EXPRESSIVE ARTS AND DESIGN

The children are provided with opportunities to explore and share their thoughts, ideas and feelings, for example, through a variety of arts, music, movement, design and technology, dance and imaginative play.
